Hotel Review: the absolutely amazing JW Marriott Marquis Dubai

In Dubai, an Emirat of VAE, everything is a little bigger and more gigantic. More than 400 hotels make this small “state in the dessert” an attraction for millions every year. You don’t only find the highest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa (View? click!), but many other exciting things and spend a wonderful vacation.

The Marriott Group, owning many luxury brands like Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott, has the highest hotel in the world (Review The Ritz Carlton Hongkong) and even opened the highest in north America (Residence Inn New York Central Park). Now they also own the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai. More than 1.600 rooms and suites make it the sixt highest building of the metropol and the biggest hotel in the building (looking at the pure hotel building)

Where it is…

The JW Marriott Marquis consists of two big towers that remind on palm trees and are placed right in the center of the city. Placed by Sheikh Zayed Road and only 15 minutes away from airport DXB, it provides housing for business and leasure travellers.

The room’s view can be best described with sun rise or dawn, because every room provides view on the city, dessert and partly Burj Khalifa and on the other side on the beach, the quarter Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab and the sea. The rooms with sea view are those that end with -01 to -06, while rooms -07 to -12 have the beautiful sunrise view in the morning.

Sometimes in January or at the end of the year, it could be raining sometimes, as well in Dubai in the middle of the dessert. The good thing: an breathtaking view out of the hotel room at the 60th floor let you stay above the clouds. Click! for some amazing pictures!

The Hotel

The friendly and uncountable amount of staff welcomes you right at the door. They open the cars door, take your luggage and try to make you feel comfortable as hard as possible.

I didn’t had to check-in, but entering the lobby was truly impressive with its big pictures. Guests of the executive level or status customers of the bonus program Marriott Rewards can check-in on level 37, one of the most beautiful lounges I have ever seen – and trust me I’ve seen a lot.

The check-in is not only private, but very service oriented. You immediately get a beverage, then do the formalities. The way to the room in an impressive elevator with sea view doesn’t raise one thought of a huge hotel, since there are only 12 rooms on this level and it seems like a boutique hotel.
The elevator video can be seen here

The colors of the wood and floors give you a comfy “at home feeling” and signal “welcome in your new home”.

Das ist ein besonderes Zimmer, die 7001 die schwer zu bekommen ist
This special room is especially hard to get: 7001

The room

The impression sticks, also when entering the room. While I was staying on the “sunny side of the hotel”, it was the sea side this week, so I can show you a lot of pictures. Besides the “normal” room with its close 30 square meters, you can also get a suite with added bed room.

THE SUITES are way bigger and come with living room, kitchen, bedroom and sunrise and also sea side view.

The rooms are equipped with high class furniture. Let’s start with the bathroom that has a huge bathtub. The shower is separated of course and quite huge. All of that is dominated by nice marble and warm floor tiles.

A very important point to me is honorably fulfilled: thick towels and cushy bath robes to begin the day well in the SPA or pool. Ladies might appreciate the big mirror, make-up mirror and suitable lighting more.

But the room does not only consist of bathroom, but offers way more, because in the end the bathtub is a little uncomfortable ☺. So let’s continue with the actual room: big cabinets and enough space to store you luggage and all the stuff you carry with you. There is a place for everything.

In the rooms on the executive floor you also get an Illy coffee machine and every room provides water cooker and the possibility to have a coffee or tee. The minibar is well filled. If you’re not on vacation here, you will appreciate the big desk and the integrated sockets of all kind (international and so on), but also HDMI, audio plugins and USB. So if you like to bring your on music you can listen to it from the TV, while this is still the most unnecessary feature of a room.

Since sitting on your bed is not that exciting, the hotel provides a small table and seat, so you can sit down and read the news or can just throw stuff on it you have with you. But let’s get to the most important part: the bed. Not only is the mattress wonderfully comfortable, but also the sheets are soft and cushy. These are the differences of a ***, **** or eben ***** hotels.

One of the best, if not the best lounge in a hotel

If you are in the Ritz Carlton Rewards program of book a room on the executive level, you get this 24h. This means free WiFi (which you always get with status) or color copier, fax and much more. The whole level 37 provides free food and beverages all day long. You can have your own meeting room for 2 hours for free for up to 10 people.

In the early morning, the breakfast buffet starts here, with live cooking stations and really delicious food. During the whole day, you could stay here for a little lunch, high tea or some snacks for dinner. Its the best place, if you like snacks with a view and eating the whole day 🙂

The nicest fact about the lounge is that it’s never really crowded but seems like a living room rather than a big lounge. You can spend all day here, meet business wise or friends and do whatever you want.

All services in the lounge, starting from food and beverages to meeting rooms and internet, are for free. The offer truly exceeds what hotel lounges usually offer, even Marriott. The Marriott in Berlin comes close.

conclusion

The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is surely one of the most beautiful houses in Dubai, if not the most beautiful, together with the Ritz Carlton Dubai Financial Center. If you want to be close to the beach, the Mövenpick Jumeirah Beach or the newly renovatedRitz Carlton Jumeirah Beach. for price sensitive ones in the “old” Dubai the Mövenpick is also perfectly suitable
